The two artists Selbermann and Markus Schmitz are neighbors in the rooms of Atelier Goldstein. Occasionally this circumstance leads to a certain coloration within their works. Sometimes it is a motif, a drawing or an object that is found in the work of the other, but more and more often the two artists seek the active influence of the other. Thus some works wander back and forth, are worked on in different stages from both positions, until a blending occurs that is sometimes difficult to trace. Selbermann’s narrative drawings meet Schmitz’s abstract cutouts and vice versa.
In a two-day working session, this collaboration will be focused on in a one-to-one situation and examined for possible deepening.
The door is open to all visitors.
GOLDFUNK curated by Jakob Hoffmann
The Goldstein Gallery becomes a radio studio. For three days there will be radio, to watch, to talk and to share. Every day there will be a new artistic direction, the result can be taken away on CD and later heard in an extra broadcast on Radio X. The door is open.
Tuesday, July 16, 2019, 2 – 6 p.m. Sara Lehn, artist, Berlin
No radio without a jingle. Sara Lehn produces a few of these recognition sounds, with guests, pas-sants, microphone and small keyboard instruments. Julius Bockelt makes music and talks about hor-ror movies. Ichi-Ichi man Adrian Durrani also describes his favorite Japanese comic bookand has music to go with it.
Wednesday, July 17, 2019, 2-6 p.m. Nelson Brandt a.k.a. Knowsum a.k.a. Nepumuk, Offenbach.
Nelson makes an almost classic radio show, with the Urbansoul of the 70s in the ear, but also with live raps and definitely a few O-tones from the guests who show up there in the studio Goldfunk. Above all, he shows how a sample becomes a beat and what you can do with it.
Thursday, July 18, 2019, 3 – 7 p.m. Moritz Duesterberg, Radio X, Frankfurt am Main.
Interviews and music program for his Radio X regular show “Soultrain”. The focus is on Atelier Goldstein: its artists, its art, its gallery, its environment, its music, its stories and ideas for the future.
STEFAN WIELAND in the showcase
The Frankfurt artist Stefan Wieland will thematically design the showcase of the Goldstein Gallery. Until mid-August his work will be on display, day and night.
