On May 29 at 7 p.m., we invite to the opening of the solo exhibition “Im Auge des Pelikan”, presenting works by Snezana Milenkovic.
It is through a fleeting and gentle gesture that Snezana Milenkovic brings her creatures to life in her drawings and paintings. For many years, the artist has explored the creatures of flora and fauna—and their organic forms—within her images. These are subtle touches of pen or brush that lend these creatures a delicate, corporeal quality. Yet, when one expands one’s gaze to encompass the entire image, this delicacy is repeatedly disrupted by expressive proliferations: lush painterly planes intersect with lines that condense into abstract networks. The result remains, invariably, an *approach* to plants, animals, and the countless life forms that exist between them. Thus, beyond merely depicting birds, jellyfish, flowers, and landscapes, Milenkovic’s works also serve as a narrative of color and form.
