EBEN is a collaboration between the sculptor Lutz Pillong and the Goldstein artist Markus Schmitz, which deals with drawing and silhouette. The work shown by the two artists developed in the form of a dialogue – thus, on the basis of graphic found objects as well as specially made drawings, object-like cut-outs were gradually created through repeated, alternating editing.
By cropping the graphics and drawings, the relationship between front and back is dissolved and shows potentially equivalent positive and negative views of the individual sheets. The produced object-like quality is emphasized by the all-view presentation of some graphics. Other works are superimposed in layers, so that the cut-outs create a spatiality that suggests an immaterial three-dimensional form.
