DRAWING BY DUSTIN ECKHARDT IN BELGIUM

"Crip Stories" – An Exhibition Project by Wit.h

On July 5, the group exhibition “Crip Stories” opens at the De Lovie Castle Park in Belgium.
Among the works on display is a large-scale, twelve-part drawing by Goldstein artist Dustin Eckhardt.

This exhibition project is organized by the Belgian arts organization Wit.h, which brings together international artists whose access to the art world and its institutions is not always a given. At the heart of the exhibition lies the question: Do we need an artist’s biography to understand their artwork?
The question is inspired by the song “The Crip Song” by author Piet Devos, which explores the meaning of the word “Crip.”

Dustin Eckhardt regularly explores his hometown of Frankfurt and the surrounding area. He records his observations in drawings, combining his personal impressions with photography and online image research. The resulting works merge multiple perspectives. His artistic method is reminiscent of medieval pattern books.
The romantic image of an artist wandering through nature with a sketchbook takes on an urban character in Eckhardt’s work.
