Lothar Zaubitzer’s sculptural work, primarily in ceramics, revolves around animal bodies. Drawing inspiration from photographs of real existing creatures, Zaubitzer models three-dimensional figures that, in the course of their creation, always acquire a distinctive presence. He combines stylized basic forms with finely elaborated details, thus producing objects that oscillate between naturalism and distortion, between cuteness and monstrosity, between seriousness and humor.
The artist was born in 1964 in Frankfurt am Main, where he continues to live and work today.
