Crip Stories

An Exhibition Project by Wit.h
Dustin Eckhardt, among others
De Lovie Castle Park in Belgium

July 5 – September 21, 2025

The group exhibition “Crip Stories” at De Lovie Castle Park in Belgium features, among other works, a large-format, twelve-part drawing by Goldstein artist Dustin Eckhardt.

This exhibition project is organized by the Belgian art organization Wit.h, which brings together international artists whose access to art and its institutions is not always a given. At the heart of the project lies the question: Do we need an artist’s biography to understand a work of art? This question is inspired by the song “The Crip Song” by author Piet Devos, in which he explores the meaning of the word “Crip.”

Dustin Eckhardt regularly explores his hometown of Frankfurt and its surroundings, capturing his observations through drawing. He combines personal impressions with photography and online image research, resulting in works that merge multiple perspectives. His method is reminiscent of medieval pattern books. The romantic notion of an artist wandering through nature with a sketchbook takes on a more urban character in Eckhardt’s work.
