Schmitz
Markus Schmitz is 19 years old and is the youngest Goldstein artist,
he joined the Atelier in 2005. He is very interested in the world
of music and fashion and looks at contemporary photography books and
fashion/style magazines for his inspiration. He produces delicate,
figurative drawings that he later colours with watercolour or Indian
ink. He takes in many details, exaggerating some of the physiology,
the lips are often very sensual the feet are always seen in sleek
heels. Marcus develops from these images a very interesting perspective
on the fashion world, almost making caricatures from the most beautiful
models , the colour images that are taken from the magazines are always
dated and signed by the Artist, so becoming part of the collection.
Marcus is presently working on a series of „cutouts” , drawing onto
black card , then cutting out the form, producing a reduced eloquent
figure from the world of fashion.
